mermaed Releases “Sad Boy Tears” Single

Buzzworthy Los Angeles alt-rock act mermaed independently released today their emotionally-charged third single titled “Sad Boy Tears”. The song is set to appear on the quartet’s debut EP, I Know You Are, But What Am I?, due in the fall.

Produced by Jon Joseph (BØRNS, Jason Mraz) and mixed by Carlos de la Garza (Bad Religion, Teenage Wrist, Wolf Alice), “Sad Boy Tears” covers some intense emotional ground. “It comes from a dark place in a relationship,” singer Arielle Ackford says. “Loving a person who doesn’t love themselves, and the frustration over how their mental state impacts your own life. It’s a difficult song to release because, lyrically, it’s not coming from the most loving perspective …but it’s real.”

While the song is released today, early support has come from hometown Alt-outlet KROQ Los Angeles, who also championed mermaed’s previous two singles (their first, “Idiot”, spent three weeks as the most-requested song on the station’s “Locals Only” program and was featured on the first-ever “Locals Only” vinyl compilation). Early radio support for “Sad Boy Tears” has also come from KTCL Denver and WQRR Tuscaloosa.

mermaed has been able to parlay their local radio awareness into several packed L.A. performances earlier in the year, including a spot on the inaugural KROQ-presented “Locals Only Fest” lineup at the Teragram Ballroom.

To coincide with mermaed’s fall EP release, the band will perform on a television program called “Sounds Of The Underground”, set to air on CBS affiliates in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, San Francisco and others.
